INSTRUCTOR PROFILES
Elena Philp: Principal
Elena went to Sydney in 1980 after
gaining an Arts Council grant to study character and folkloric dance and
performed with prominent company Xochipilli Mexican Dances for eight
years. Other performances were with companies in various styles such as
Russian, Ukrainian, Eastern European and Filipino as well as
contemporary.
She began practicing Pilates in 1986
and shortly after that her apprenticeship.. Further training has
included an intensive with Romana Kryzanowska (one of the remaining
‘elders’) in the original New York style. Then in 1999 with Thea
Walter, a fully certified pilates instructor and physiotherapist, in the
clinical applications of the Method.
After seeing the
need for further training Elena began working towards international
accreditation with Rael Isacowitz ( Body Arts and Science, U.S.A.) and
graduated in early 2001. Work has included being part of clinical
practices, community Mat classes and Pilates International in Sydney. She
continues to be involved with Pilates International as a host studio for
its certification course.

Pilates Precision is pleased to introduce
the teaching team of Helen Kirk and Janeen Tunnicliffe who completed the
the Pilates International Certification course after many apprentice
hours. They have
proven their integrity, ability, understanding and endurance
over a vigorous training schedule.
Helen Kirk:
is a qualified personal trainer (AUT) specializing in
Pilates. She trains many clients at various sites in Auckland and the
Pukekohe area. Helen is currently contracting for Les Mills as a Body
Balance instructor and holds the title of Miss Oceania 2003 for
Amateur Shape Bodybuilding.
Her
training and qualifications earned through Pilates International make
her a Level 1 instructor and she completed her practical and clinical
hours with Pilates Precision.

years of formal classical training with prominent teacher, Dorothea
Ashbridge gives Helen the advantage of first hand knowledge of the
rigorous training and stress the body can experience.
Her years of dance experience and personal training have equipped her
well for this new direction in her teaching career.
Janeen Tunnicliffe:
has a degree in
Psychology and has spent many years practicing the ancient Chinese art
of Chi Kung. She is also a talented weaver and this attention to
detail is evident in her approach to her teaching. Janeen often says
‘It’s all in the detail..’and her artist’s eye and intuition brings
another welcome dimension to the studio.
Janeen is a graduate of Pilates
International and is a certificate IV Pilates Practitioner. She has
been teaching since 2002.
